What does a conveyancer do?
A conveyancer manages the legal and administrative side of a property transfer, so nothing is missed between contract and settlement.
Collects the paperwork
Gathers every document the transfer needs.
Prepares legal documents
Drafts and reviews documents such as the contract of sale.
Checks the property
Researches the property and its certificate of title.
Adjusts rates & taxes
Calculates rates and tax adjustments between buyer and seller.

Conveyancers are licensed professionals and members of the Australian Institute of Conveyancers (AIC).
What about lawyer conveyancers?
A conveyancer does not need to be a lawyer. Some legal tasks, however, can only be done by a solicitor, and this may add extra fees.
Can the buyer and seller share a conveyancer?
We do not recommend it. Buyers and sellers should each have their own conveyancer. Sharing one can create a conflict of interest, for example if settlement is delayed or a special condition is not met.
